FINANCIAL SERVICES TECHNICIAN - TITLE 5

As a FINANCIAL SERVICES TECHNICIAN - TITLE 5, GS-0503-8, you will perform in-depth financial analysis of inter-related accounting, logistics and computer file systems concerning pay, accounts payable, and various travel entitlements. Use multiple procedures, processes and techniques to evaluate alternatives and arrive at decisions, conclusions and recommendations. Analyze, verify and evaluate facts of financial transaction problems/issues. Obtain additional information to reconcile discrepancies. Apply fiscal laws, regulations, precedent decisions, and procedures to determine appropriate action for resolution. Analyze and resolve tax processing problems. Research, interpret, analyze, and apply regulations, policies, procedures and legal decisions to work and/or resolve complex financial issues/problems. Determine appropriate pay, allowances, and entitlements. Audit pay, travel, and accounts payable authorizations and entitlements to determine compliance with multiple laws, regulations, policies and issuances. Schedule, run, and analyze financial system reports. Train customers on pay and travel entitlements and associated systems, processes and reports. Perform other duties as assigned. Experience:
Experience in progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work which demonstrates ability to communicate with individuals at different levels in order to assist and provide information. Experience using computers and automated systems. SPECIALIZED
Experience:
Must have at least one (1) year experience at the next lower level in the normal line of progression through federal service (GS-07) or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that demonstrates the experience and knowledge of fact finding, investigating and problem solving techniques involving reconciliations of discrepancies (Electronic Funds Transfer rejects, pay/personnel/travel mismatches and pay timeliness) that identify, analyze and recommend solutions regarding financial services, multiple entitlements, and payments to personnel in various duty statuses and commercial vendors. Experience determining appropriate pay, allowances, and entitlements resulting from multiple military and/or civilian statuses. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
