Fish and Wildlife Technician II (GFTL)

With supervision, this position performs technical work in fishery management, research, and inventory efforts in the Western Fishery District Branch, including data collection/entry, maintenance of equipment and facilities, and other duties as required.
Some overtime and overnight travel required.

This means it is a position that is paid entirely as the result of a grant.
The duration of employment shall not exceed the life of the grant that funds the position.
An employee appointed to a GFTL position is required to meet the minimum requirements for the classification.
Further, an employee appointed to a GFTL position is designated as an unclassified (non-merit) employee.
A GFTL employee is eligible to receive benefits at the same level as a classified (merit) employee in a permanent position.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to This position directly assists other staff members to assess impacts of invasive carp on Kentucky's native fishes and to remove invasive carp from Kentucky's' public waters.
These assessments include boat electrofishing, gill netting, telemetry, assisting with experimental removal methods and assisting with oversight of the commercial fishing industry.
The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work with numerous other state and federal partners throughout the course of this position.
Perform data entry.
Responsible for the maintenance of equipment, such as Alweld aluminum boats up to 30', outboard motors up to 225hp, generators, skid-steers, trailers, nets and other miscellaneous equipment.
Special Requirements Experience with small engine, outboard motor, trailer and heavy equipment maintenance and repair is preferred.
The selected candidate will be required to maintain a valid driver license and pass a commercial driver's medical certification within 6 months, a class A CDL is a plus.
Must be able to swim.

Minimum RequirementsEDUCATION:
High school graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Must have one year of fishery, wildlife or habitat management/development experience.

Experience:
Additional related training will substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
Experience in fisheries, wildlife or habitat management/development will substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.

):
Must possess a valid driver's license prior to appointment in this classification.
Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
