By joining our Division of Motor Carriers as a Taxpayer Services Specialist III in Franklin County you willhave the opportunity to provide expert technical assistance to taxpayers and staff on state tax statutes andregulations administered by the Department of Revenue or the Department of Vehicle Regulation.
Leads andperforms in- depth reviews of tax returns for certain purposes, to include, but not limited to theinvestigation and compliance of tax returns in the enforcement of tax laws; the examination of taxreturns, applications, and related documentation to determine accuracy; and/or the collection of delinquenttax and state government debts; and performs other duties as required.
Holders of the Taxpayer Services Specialist III position will complete tasks such as:
Operate multiple tax systems to analyze commercial motor carrier tax return data and outstanding taxliabilities to relay to customers, CVE agents or KSP.
Directly assist taxpayers via phone, email, correspondence or in person with all aspects of their taxaccount(s).
Assist with the training of new and/or lesser experienced staff to insure they become familiar with allaspects of the administration of IFTA/KIT/KYU/UDI taxes.
Assist with seasonal training to general public as well as assist w/training of beginning levelspecialist.
Serve as project leader on tax projects and/or special assignments.

Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Must have four years of professional experience in tax records examination, tax administration, tax investigation, or tax auditing.
One year of the required experience must include providing direct technical assistance to taxpayers.

Experience in tax records examination, tax administration, tax investigation, tax auditing, property appraisal, accounting, business administration, collections or a related field will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
