Description The Division of Epidemiology and Health Planning (DEHP), in the Department for Public Health, is recruiting for an Epidemiologist Technical Advisor to serve in the division office.

This position will serve as the lead for epidemiology and informatics functions, as well as serve as state representative on national health initiatives and workgroups.
The candidate will supervise and provide advanced knowledge and training to other epidemiologists.
This position will be an integral part of the DEHP leadership team and the Department for Public Health.

Responsibilities and Duties:
Oversees informatics development, operations, and cross-program collaboration among Division programs.
Supervises staff as needed in syndromic surveillance, vital statistics, and environmental tracking programs.
Uses advanced statistical software to manage, maintain and implement programs, complex databases of surveillance and epidemiologic study data.
Coordinates and consults on complex investigations of disease conditions, environmental hazards, and environmental health emergencies.
Oversees and provides consultation for epidemiologic, vital statistics, syndromic surveillance, and public health tracking surveillance, data analysis, interpretation, data sharing, and reports.
Disseminates data to health professionals, the public, and the media in an appropriate and understandable format.
Responds to public inquiries related to specific diseases or other health issues.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Proven advanced work experience as an Epidemiologist Strong organizational, analytical, reasoning, and research skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Attention to detail Ability to collaborate with a diverse range of partners and stakeholders High-level proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel) Ability to multi-task Minimum Requirements EDUCATION:
A master's degree in public health (MPH).
OR A master of science degree in public health (MSPH).
OR A master of science degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or a related.
OR A master's degree and successful completion of at least two graduate-level courses in epidemiology, public health research methods, epidemiological research methods, population health, or disease investigation, or other related courses and one graduate-level course in data analysis, statistics, biostatistics, public health programming, epidemiological programming, health analytics, demography, or other related courses.
OR A doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, or SciD) and successful completion of at least two graduate-level courses in epidemiology, public health research methods, epidemiological research methods, population health, or disease investigation, or other related courses and one graduate-level course in data analysis, statistics, biostatistics, public health programming, epidemiological programming, health analytics, demography, other related courses.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
With a master's degree, must have six years of experience as an epidemiologist or in providing epidemiology functions.
With a doctoral degree, must have two years of experience as an epidemiologist or in providing epidemiology functions.
